Philip Colbert Studio

I'm a generealist 3d artist at Philip Colbert Studio but my responsbilities expanded outside the scope of the typical generalist 3d artist role. I was in charge of Philip's presence in the metaverse, including the coding and design. I also was in charge of all in house 3d printing and prototype manufacturing.

Design Engineering

This was a painting robot that I designed in collaboration with a robotics engineer from UCL. I modelled and 3d printed the skeleton of the robot which I designed to fit on top of a frame that had articulating arms, claws and a neck.

Prototyping

I worked on the protoype for this lobster phone which invlved taking an existing rotary phone, dissasembling it and figuring out the best way to fit existing components in a new shell. That also involved designing a new switch mechanism that would have to be situated somewhere in the arms.

Sculpture Design

We use Blender at the studio for all 3d content creation. I am mostly in charge of all sculpture designs, that involved coming uip with new ideas for sculptures based on Philip's ideas and then realising them in 3D. Once he approves any design it's then my job to finalise all 3d files to be sent out to factories for production.
